Arsenic and Old Lace

Don’t you just love that movie?!? Cary Grant at his best! Anyways, I wanted a title with lace in it, so that’s what i came up with!:)

This is a bag I made from a crocheted curtain and two cloth napkins. I have the other part of the curtain to do something with; I have a few ideas, but you’ll have to wait and see what I do with it!:)

Vested Disinterest

This used to be a pair of jeans, that became a skirt, that have now become a vest! This is one of those projects that I don't particularly like, because I know every little thing that went wrong! And believe me, there were many! Don't quite know what I'll wear it with; or if I'll wear it at all!:) I tend to do that with projects I don't like; they sit in the back of a closet for a long time!:)
The pattern is vintage, Simplicity 7592. The side panels are some old fabric from my aunt. I don't know where I got the top button (yes it's different from the others:)) but the rest I cut off of a dress from 5 or 6 years ago! And the fraying and odd pieces of fabric are from the original skirt construction. I just put the pattern pice over whatever was there, hoping it would come out slightly deconstructed-looking:)
On a side note, how cool is this shirt??? I almost considered buying it!!:):)

Titles are bothersome to think up!

When I saw the tutorial for this peasant blouse over on My Mama Made It, I just had to make it! I love clothing like this. The fabric of the white shirt I used is fantastic! It just feels so nice. I'm wearing it with this AWESOME belt my sister-in-law gave me! (thanks again!:):))
I wanted to make some more of these shirts, but I ran out of elastic!:( Something that happens too often around here...I think I use it too often:):)

Blue Roses

I finished this today. I originally bought the fabric on clearance from Wal-Mart; it was love at first sight! I bought all they had (only 3 yards:() and immediately started thinking of what sundress pattern to use. Alas, it went horribly wrong (too long of a story:). So, I took the tiered bottom of the dress and turned it into this skirt. I think it turned out ok. I'm not so sure about the pocket, though. I was going for one of those big poufy pockets that I've seen on so many skirts, but I don't think I achieved that! What do you think? Should the pocket go or stay????
I got lazy with the hem=| I just turned it over once and zig-zagged it. It's my favorite way to make a hem look unique without more effort:)

Something Pink

The before picture of a very ill fitting shirt. I know, everyone's doing a button down project. But, I think it's a good trend! Who knew you could do so much with a shirt??

The after picture. I think it turned out well. And my sister really likes it!:)

Lovely Weekend

Here are some pictures of the shirt I made. Sorry, I forgot to take any of me in it!:( The shirt is a vintage Alexander Julian, and I got it from my Papaw, who got it from my Great-Uncle Art. It has history!:)
I wore this to my graduation party and everyone liked it (unless they lied:) I think it's really cute and is a perfect top to wear in the summer! Plus, another great use for a men's button down!:)
I originally got the idea from the Kathy Cano-Murillo book "Crafty Chica’s Guide to Artful Sewing". The book was nice but the instructions for this particular project were not well written. I ended up doing it my way!:)
Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Hopefully you got less sunburn than I did.(ouch!:()
