Bag Lady

My photography class is on Mondays. I have two other classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyone who has a class schedule like this will know that it is a pain to transfer your books into and out of your bag just so you can go to a different class. Or, maybe you are  much more organized than me, and have always had more than one bag:) Either way, I needed another bag for my photography class. Since it is just one book and a notebook, pens, folder, etc. for my photography class, my regular book bag is too big. So, a simple tote bag it is!

This bag is made from a pair of jeans, and some scrap fabric. I used up almost all of the jeans; I even used the waistband for a strap. At first I wasn’t going to use it, because it was really curved. But after I sewed it on and put it over my shoulder, the curved strap actually helps keep it on my shoulder better!

Happy Early Hallmark Holiday

I have mixed feelings about Valentines Day. I don’t know if it’s the best holiday ever, or an excuse to sit around and eat chocolate all by your lonesome….. what do you guys think??

In the spirit of Valentines Day, I present you with this shirt! I made it from a larger shirt (the diagonal lines were already there)and the heart patch is from another shirt. If it wasn’t pink and red I’d wear it!;)

Zip Your Lip

I have been on a bit of a refurbishing/refashioning kick lately. No big projects, no patterns, but a lot of applique, dying, etc. This shirt is one such project. It started out as a typical boring, long sleeved, button down shirt. I shortened the sleeves, took off the collar, took in the sides a little, and added the zipper and the patches on the sleeves. I really like the zipper, but I’m not so sure about the fabric on the sleeves. What do you guys think??

Also, I am taking a Photography class this semester, so hopefully my pictures will improve:)

Skirt the Issue

I made these two skirts for my niece. She loves Fancy Nancy, so when I saw that fabric for sale, I grabbed it! The second skirt is made from a pair of stretch denim capris and some fabric scraps. I love how it turned out. I left the hem raw, so it would fray over time.

Sorry no outfit photos. I promise my next project will have a model:)

On the 2nd Day of Christmas

This is one of the gifts that I made. I actually made two different ones, but forgot to take a picture of the second one. It’s a Cd Visor (I think that’s what you call them). I stumbled across the tutorial awhile ago and thought they would be really cool to make as gifts. Once you’ve made one, they come together really fast. Plus, its really fun to mix and match fabrics with the giftee in mind. Fat quarters are also a very good idea for these.

Club Failure

So, since school is done I thought I’d do a little celebratory post. And what better way to do that than with posting a failed project?!?

Remember that fabric I showed you guys awhile back? Well, I turned it into this dress. And while the dress itself may not look completely atrocious, I do NOT like it! I used this pattern and followed the directions to the letter. The only problem? The first time I used this pattern I made my own adjustments, and forgot to do the same thing for the second dress. So, while I still love and wear the first dress, I do not think I will be loving or wearing the second dress.
