Purple People Eater #2

This was made from a men's shirt from Teresa (thanks!:) She gave me some shirts and a skirt, and this is what I’ve made from them so far. (I have an idea for the skirt, but no lining fabric:() When I dyed this sweater, I didn’t want to waste the dye, even though the box said it was only good for one use. So I just put the shirt in the dye and let it sit there for half a day. After I washed it, it came out looking a little faded in some parts. But I just said it was “vintage.” 032 036036 039 041 045 012037022 033  024

The top of course, you’ve seen before. The pants I made from the shirt arms. I think they’re really cute. I remembered how to make them from a tutorial I had seen awhile back, but I don’t know where that is now.

Some random blog posts that I really like this week. Here, and here and don’t forget here! Check them out!:)

Also, I am in the process of setting up an Etsy store! I’m very excited and hopeful about it!:) I will keep you guys posted.

Run in a Meadow

This started out as a polo shirt. I don't like polo shirts. I very rarely, if ever wear them. But, I loved the flower print on this shirt! I didn't want to just give it away! I made this the same way as I made this pillowcase dress; and how cool is that bias tape?!?!? I've had it for awhile, never having the right project for it. On a whim I picked this out of my stash and put it next to the shirt! In fear of sounding reeaallllly cheesy, it was a match made in heaven!:):) Ok, I'm done! It's just so easy to use cliche's !!:):):)
Now, I need to make one for me! It's fun to make stuff for your nieces, but not when you want to wear it!!!!:):) My niece ,Victoria is modeling her new dress!:)

A bag fit for Mr. and Mrs. Newton

When my sister-in-law, Cristina, gave me a pair of my nephews overalls, saying I could maybe use the denim for something, I thought: what am I going to do with so little denim??? A few days later I was playing around with them and it hit me! A bag! So I cut off the legs and the straps, then I added a gusset on the bottom and different straps. Voila!!:) The plaid fabric is a button down shirt. I love how all the pockets on the outside are so functional!!

Cuffed Twice

Here is cuff #2! A black cuff, with purple embriodered circles(awesome little stitch option on my sewing machine:)), mother-of-pearl buttons and a velcro fastener. Is it any better? I would actually wear this one:)

Cuffed

I was going through the scraps from a project (you'll see it soon:) and was trying to think of something I could make from the cuffs of a mens dress shirt. Here's what I came up with. I'm not so sure I like it or will wear it, but... I have three more to practice on! :):) What do you guys think?? Does it have potential or is it absurd?:)

P.s. Don't mind the stray threads! :0

....

This started out as a dress. I cut off part of the bottom and made it into a little girls skirt (too big for the intended recipient:( ) I loved the pockets and thought they would look great on a skirt!

Then I took the remaining top of the dress and the cut off portion of the bottom and sewed them together. I used the original side vents of the dress and incorporated them into the shirt. Nothing special. I was really just trying to use up scraps. I'm not particularly pleased with this project.

Ribbit!!!

Here it is ladies and gents!! This was a skirt I picked up at a garage sale. I couldn't see an adult actually wearing it (although I had the idea of it as a uniform for a nurse working in a children's hospital.:) My niece likes frogs; she thinks her little brother is a bullfrog. When I told her I was going to make a dress for her out of this skirt she got excited! And here it is! The top is lined with the lining from the skirt, and I used bias tape for the ties. I put in a side zipper, hoping she'll be able to wear it longer. The only unfortunate thing is that it's all white. White fabric and little kids ... we'll see how long it stays white:):)

Happy Father's Day!!!

This was a top that I made awhile ago that was not very flattering on me. I saw the opportunity for a quick and easy transformation, and decided to make it into a skirt! It was a little too short as is, so I added a border, with the stripes going the other way.
I also went to a lot of garage sales last week! I found a big tin of zippers for only 50 cents!! And a cute skirt that no adult should wear in public, but will make a lovely dress for my niece!:) You'll see what I mean sometime soon!:)

Ruffles

A dress I shortened. It used to be much longer, making it look like something you would wear to a party (I wore it to a wedding:). I wanted to be able to wear it more often, but it needed to look more everyday. So, I shortened it and I now have a cute summer dress that I can wear every day! This is one of very few pink things that I own. Experts say red heads shouldn't wear pink!:):)
