Purple People Eater
My first attempt at dying! So fun! I want to dye everything now!!! This is a sweater from my Mammaw, that had paint stains on it. They were really only visible because it was white. So, I thought, why not dye it? My sister-in-law thinks it looks 1980's, which I must admit, it kinda does.... and the sleeves are a little short... But, the big pocket and my favorite color tell me to wear this!! What do ya' think? I think it's pretty successful for a first dying project. I also dyed a mens button down; but that project has me pulling my hair (metaphorically of course:)) So, if it works out you'll see that too. If not, you'll know it's hiding in the back of some closet.:)

I love purple! It's my latest obsession.
ReplyDeleteDyeing is so cool -- instant makeover. I would love to experiment with a bunch of dyes, mix custom colors, etc. I'm trying to think of some ideas to refashion the sweater but it's tough to suggest anything without seeing it in person. Maybe take in the sides to add a little shape to start with? You could just pin it and see if that makes a good difference, and sew it if you like what you see. Good luck and keep us posted. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura :)
ReplyDeleteNice job!! Love that color-I love DIY's. I have never dyed anything, but I recently did my first bleach job and now I want to bleach everything, hehe!!

Oh I want to learn how to dye things! I have a few pieces that I feel would be better in another color.
ReplyDeleteIt's not hard at all! The hardest part for me was making sure I didn't get the dye all over the place!:):):)
ReplyDeletePrettyyy! And I just love your hair :)
ReplyDeleteI've never tried dyeing anything before..infact i never really thought of it but this is definitely an idea!
ReplyDeleteThats a great idea! Dying things is such a great idea. Your blog is really interesting, especially as I'm just starting to leanr the basics of dressmaking now.I've nearly finished my first dress now, using a 50's vintage pattern. I can't wait to get the zip in and finish it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice comment. Arboretums are gorgeous aren't they? The one in the photos isn't actually public, but luckily weknow the people who own it!
