Quantum Physics

We all know guys are hard to shop for. It’s all too easy to just give them a gift card or some tools and call it done. It’s even worse if you are making them something. Which is why I mainly stick to children’s and women’s stuff when I’m sewing. Every once in awhile, however, I will venture to make something for my Guinea pig brother. Since this shirt was so successful, I decided to try something similar and this is what I came up with.

I used two t shirts to make the stripes. I wasn’t really too sure about this one, but my brother is wearing it, so I guess you could call it a success!

Gimme a break of that Kit Kat bar!

I am finally free! My first semester at BGSU is finally over, and it felt like the longest and hardest semester I have ever had! BUT, enough of that. It’s Christmas break time, which meansssssss…….. time for sewing! (and doing whatever I want). So, to kick it off, here is some of what I made for Christmas presents. I wasn’t able to get pictures of everything, but you didn’t miss much:)

DSC03808I made a guitar strap out of this fabric. I did not get a pic of the finished product, but it turned out pretty cool (if I do say so myself).

A bunch of zippered pouches. These make the perfect last minute gift (not that any of us procrastinate:)

A little helmet hat with a big flower on the side:

DSC03846DSC03848DSC03851This blanket was definitely the biggest project. It’s a fringe/knot blanket. All the polka dots are appliqued, as is the ‘A’.

So that’s that…… we will now return to regular programming. For at least a few weeks anyway ;)

If we could all live in a tent

I’m calling this a tent dress…or extreme a-line dress….or whatever you wanna call it! I was gonna wait till I could have my niece try it on, but the weeks went by and I didn’t wanna wait any longer, so here ya go;)

I have had this bias tape for awhile. I think I got it from Goodwill… I LOVE it, but never found a use for it. I thought it went perfect with denim, and I whipped this dress up in about an hour and  a half. Although it’s technically a top… I’m never a good judge on how long to make things!

Winner winner Chicken Dinner!

Annndddddd……we have a winner! Heathers Feathers is the randomly drawn winner of my surprise craft package! (you guys should totally check out her blog too, cuz she has some great ideas).

Next week I will have another giveaway (cuz I’m just that generous). It will be for everyone, not just the crafty types (although I’m sure you're all crafty;)) Make sure to tune in!! I started my 1st year of college at BGSU, which means I probably wont have much time for sewing. Today, I actually took my sewing machine off my desk and put my laptop on it instead :( Sadness, I tell you. BUT, I will get in a giveaway and maybe a few refashions before school completely encapsulates me in a sea of papers and evil speeches (yes I have speech class:( the classroom is across the street from a cemetery…no kidding)

Get Crafty!

I felt like having a giveaway, so here ya go! giveaway will run from now to next Friday (8/25). All you have to do is be a follower of my blog and tell me in a comment what your favorite kind of craft is (and an email address if you want any hope of receiving your prize;)) Winner will be picked randomly.

I suppose I should tell you what the prize is? Well, I cant, cuz it’s a surprise. I can tell you that one lucky winner will receive a surprise package of craft supplies (not a finished product). For those of you that don’t craft, don’t worry. I’ll be having another giveaway soon (and by soon I mean before I go back to school, which unfortunately is very soon:()

So, there you go! Get to it; don’t be lazy (like my kitty;))

Awash in a sea of Blues

This is proof that I have actually been doing some sewing! It has finally cooled down enough to where my sewing room doesn’t feel like a sauna.

I decided to make this skirt to try and get rid of some of the denim I had laying around. The benefit of being  a seamstress is that people will often give you their second hand clothing (think mens shirts and jeans galore). The down side to this is that I usually receive the “fabric” faster than I can make something with it. so, this skirt was a perfect way to get rid of 4 pairs of jeans in one fell swoop.

You cant see them very well, but I’m also wearing my new 5-inch wedges:) And those mens shirts I Mentioned? I’ve got a project with those comin too:)

Skirt is for sale here.

It’s Alivveeee!!!

Yes, I’m still here! I’ve still been sewing, just very slowly, ‘cuz when you have no air conditioner and the temps outside are 90 and climbing, sewing isn’t exactly a priority;)  I will have something to show for it in the next week though! Gotta get my sewing in before school starts:(

I like my Stripes a Little Crooked

This is what I made my niece for her 5th b-day. It started out as a men's polo; I used a basic tank top pattern for the top and went from there. I had  a lot of little scraps left from the shirt, so I pieced them together to make the bottom ruffle; I turned the squares every other one, for extra effect:) And I love pockets, so I just had to add one;)
