Ribbit!!!

Here it is ladies and gents!! This was a skirt I picked up at a garage sale. I couldn't see an adult actually wearing it (although I had the idea of it as a uniform for a nurse working in a children's hospital.:) My niece likes frogs; she thinks her little brother is a bullfrog. When I told her I was going to make a dress for her out of this skirt she got excited! And here it is! The top is lined with the lining from the skirt, and I used bias tape for the ties. I put in a side zipper, hoping she'll be able to wear it longer. The only unfortunate thing is that it's all white. White fabric and little kids ... we'll see how long it stays white:):)

Happy Father's Day!!!

This was a top that I made awhile ago that was not very flattering on me. I saw the opportunity for a quick and easy transformation, and decided to make it into a skirt! It was a little too short as is, so I added a border, with the stripes going the other way.
I also went to a lot of garage sales last week! I found a big tin of zippers for only 50 cents!! And a cute skirt that no adult should wear in public, but will make a lovely dress for my niece!:) You'll see what I mean sometime soon!:)

Out to Sea

I finished this over the weekend (or on the weekend):) I used Simplicity pattern number 3750. This is the third time I've made it, but only the second time it was successful:) I was going for a nautical inspired look, and this used to have sleeves. But they didn't seem quite' right', so off they came. I think it still looks all right, though not what I imagined when I matched the fabric to the pattern. I'm wearing this with some trouser jeans (or is it jean trousers??) I picked up at a garage sale.
Sorry about the blurry photo(s). It figures the only good one is blurry!:)

Blue Roses

I finished this today. I originally bought the fabric on clearance from Wal-Mart; it was love at first sight! I bought all they had (only 3 yards:() and immediately started thinking of what sundress pattern to use. Alas, it went horribly wrong (too long of a story:). So, I took the tiered bottom of the dress and turned it into this skirt. I think it turned out ok. I'm not so sure about the pocket, though. I was going for one of those big poufy pockets that I've seen on so many skirts, but I don't think I achieved that! What do you think? Should the pocket go or stay????
I got lazy with the hem=| I just turned it over once and zig-zagged it. It's my favorite way to make a hem look unique without more effort:)
