............

I've seen this floating around a couple blogs lately; when I saw it posted by Eliza at Restless Hearts I decided I would do it too! After all I like to make things, so why not give it to someone!:) Here are the rules:

The following has been reused from several blogs;
I am entering into the following agreement with the first 5 people who VOLUNTEER on this post and commit to passing the project along on their blog. Just read below and if you feel ready to commit, copy the following into your blog and leave me a comment. If you just want to say hi and good luck, no worries, you're not "it"! But remember you must commit on your blog to do the same for others.

  1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I send you. But you may be pleasantly surprised.
  2. What I send will be made just for you, with love, by my own hands. You'd be surprised how much of our personalities does come through online.
  3. I will complete all 5 gifts this year - 2009.
  4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world, that you can touch and feel, and not something cyber.
  5. I reserve the right to do something strange. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. If you find it truly horrendous, just let me know. Perhaps you'll send it forward to someone who will absolutely love it.
  6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.
  7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you to confirm.
U.S residents preferred, but will consider shipping overseas.

There you go! Make sure you leave me your e-mail address! I think I'll have fun with this!!:):):)

Say cheese!!

Some of you asked for pictures of my niece, Karah, modeling the pillowcase dress I made her. So, here they are! Cute, isn't she? I think the only thing I would change, is to make the armholes smaller. Although, for a breezy summer dress I guess it's ok!:)
Also I was messing around with some vintage jewelry peices that I bought awhile back at an antique store. This is a plain chain with a clip on earring as the pendant! Sorry for the slightly blurry photos!

Can I say it's 'Plaidtastic' or is That too Cheesy?

Ah, summertime!! I don't like hot summers. I prefer the colder seasons. But today was perfect! Not too hot, a lovely breeze blowing. I went to a picnic, with family and friends. A few things that I like about Summer: Picnics and wearing more skirts like this!:)
I actually bought fabric to make this (no, it's not a table cloth, or curtains!:):)) I'd been wanting to make something like this ever since I saw a similar skirt in a Forever 21 store. It was more green than this, and also more expensive! That was more than a year ago, and it's been on my mind ever since! When I saw this fabric, I knew what I would make!! Finished in about three hours! I love it! How bout you??(just say yes):)

Wearing tee-shirt from WalMart, and vintage 10 commandments bracelet from my Mom. (it's missing the 4th commandment:):))

Titles are bothersome to think up!

When I saw the tutorial for this peasant blouse over on My Mama Made It, I just had to make it! I love clothing like this. The fabric of the white shirt I used is fantastic! It just feels so nice. I'm wearing it with this AWESOME belt my sister-in-law gave me! (thanks again!:):))
I wanted to make some more of these shirts, but I ran out of elastic!:( Something that happens too often around here...I think I use it too often:):)

Cuffed Twice

Here is cuff #2! A black cuff, with purple embriodered circles(awesome little stitch option on my sewing machine:)), mother-of-pearl buttons and a velcro fastener. Is it any better? I would actually wear this one:)

Cuffed

I was going through the scraps from a project (you'll see it soon:) and was trying to think of something I could make from the cuffs of a mens dress shirt. Here's what I came up with. I'm not so sure I like it or will wear it, but... I have three more to practice on! :):) What do you guys think?? Does it have potential or is it absurd?:)

P.s. Don't mind the stray threads! :0

........

My niece Karah, had a third birthday party yesterday. This is what I made her. I based it loosely on the pillowcase dress here. Ended up doing it my way!:) I used an old sheet my Grandmother gave me and pink bias tape.
I just finished the second 'Twilight' book (New Moon)! Now I'll have to wait who knows how long for the third one. The waiting list at the library is very long!:)

....

This started out as a dress. I cut off part of the bottom and made it into a little girls skirt (too big for the intended recipient:( ) I loved the pockets and thought they would look great on a skirt!

Then I took the remaining top of the dress and the cut off portion of the bottom and sewed them together. I used the original side vents of the dress and incorporated them into the shirt. Nothing special. I was really just trying to use up scraps. I'm not particularly pleased with this project.

Jackpot!

Last week I went to Goodwill. And I got all of this fabric for only four dollars! Definitely a deal, and how cool is that eyelet fabric?!? Four dollars would be how much I pay per yard for that at any fabric store! The only problem is that I got some polyester fabric in the mix.... Anybody know what to do with it, without being outdated??:) Obviously I won't be making myself some polyester pants!

And then, today my Dad had gone to a yard sale that had yarn a dollar a skein. So we went back and I made an offer for all the yarn. I got over 40 skeins for 25 dollars! Woo-hoo! I won't have to buy yarn or fabric for quite a while!!
