Go Buckeyes!
School has started, and I haven't touched the sewing machine in 4 days!! I think I"m going through withdrawals!!
I made these pants almost two weeks ago, but forgot to post them. So here they are! I made them out of a shirt, in a way that I would get to keep the logo. I think I like how they turned out! Except for the fact that I accidentally put a hole in them... but you can't see that!:) Sorry, the pictures don't show them too well.
On another note, school has been quite the transition! I went from a class of three to a class of twenty! And the cafeteria is to be avoided!:) As I looked around, all the movies I've seen about high school kids and college kids were playing through my mind...:):) You probably think I"ve been living in the dark ages...oh well. Hopefully my schedule will settle down and I can get back to my sewing machine!
Also, pictures of what I wore to my first day of school!

Randomness; or Because I Can
I went shopping with my sister-in-law yesterday. Had a great time! We were looking for a messenger bag for my school books. (college starts next week!) First we went to Target, but we couldn't find one big enough. Then we went to the mall and found an awesome one at JcPenny's. Since we had found one so fast we had a lot of extra time to wander around the mall. It was fun to go into all the 'touch but never be able to buy' stores. You know the ones... Banana Republic, H&M, Gap....shall I go on? I think I need to win the lottery!I found the first top at Charlotte Russe for 5 bucks! I also got the nail polish there. Then the second top is a Free People (!!!!) tank that I found at Plato's Closet. I also bought some plain tees at Forever 21.
Some pictures of my baby, Salazar! I couldn't help it; sleeping cats are so cute! Well, mine is anyways!:)
And I was tagged by Beki of Near Style. But, that will be for another post. Soon.

Purple People Eater
My first attempt at dying! So fun! I want to dye everything now!!! This is a sweater from my Mammaw, that had paint stains on it. They were really only visible because it was white. So, I thought, why not dye it? My sister-in-law thinks it looks 1980's, which I must admit, it kinda does.... and the sleeves are a little short... But, the big pocket and my favorite color tell me to wear this!! What do ya' think? I think it's pretty successful for a first dying project. I also dyed a mens button down; but that project has me pulling my hair (metaphorically of course:)) So, if it works out you'll see that too. If not, you'll know it's hiding in the back of some closet.:)

Vested Disinterest
This used to be a pair of jeans, that became a skirt, that have now become a vest! This is one of those projects that I don't particularly like, because I know every little thing that went wrong! And believe me, there were many! Don't quite know what I'll wear it with; or if I'll wear it at all!:) I tend to do that with projects I don't like; they sit in the back of a closet for a long time!:)
The pattern is vintage, Simplicity 7592. The side panels are some old fabric from my aunt. I don't know where I got the top button (yes it's different from the others:)) but the rest I cut off of a dress from 5 or 6 years ago! And the fraying and odd pieces of fabric are from the original skirt construction. I just put the pattern pice over whatever was there, hoping it would come out slightly deconstructed-looking:)
On a side note, how cool is this shirt??? I almost considered buying it!!:):)

Fit to be Tied
This an idea I've been thinking about. I've been wanting to do some t-shirt projects (instant gratification:):)) this one took about 20 minutes. I really like the lacing, kind of romantic looking. But this is just a rough first project. Not at all what I want the finished product to look like! I'll probably try to make another, as soon as my pile of unfinished projects gets smaller! I always want to start another project before I finish the one I'm working on! But hey, that's what closets and drawers are for, right?!? No? Oh!:):)
Saturday I went with my brother and sister-in-law to some (ok, 30) garage sales on the Route 127 yard sale. Most of them were wiped out, but I snagged a shoebox full of zippers . I know, like I need more zippers (I don't)!! But, for that price, I'm taking 'em! And another pattern!:)

Run in a Meadow
This started out as a polo shirt. I don't like polo shirts. I very rarely, if ever wear them. But, I loved the flower print on this shirt! I didn't want to just give it away! I made this the same way as I made this pillowcase dress; and how cool is that bias tape?!?!? I've had it for awhile, never having the right project for it. On a whim I picked this out of my stash and put it next to the shirt! In fear of sounding reeaallllly cheesy, it was a match made in heaven!:):) Ok, I'm done! It's just so easy to use cliche's !!:):):)
Now, I need to make one for me! It's fun to make stuff for your nieces, but not when you want to wear it!!!!:):) My niece ,Victoria is modeling her new dress!:)

A bag fit for Mr. and Mrs. Newton
When my sister-in-law, Cristina, gave me a pair of my nephews overalls, saying I could maybe use the denim for something, I thought: what am I going to do with so little denim??? A few days later I was playing around with them and it hit me! A bag! So I cut off the legs and the straps, then I added a gusset on the bottom and different straps. Voila!!:) The plaid fabric is a button down shirt. I love how all the pockets on the outside are so functional!!
Also, check out this contest, at Me,Myself and I.
