Running in circles

Tada! My very first tie dye project! I have always wanted to try it, but never did. Until…I got this pink shirt. I don’t wear pink, so obviously it had to change;) I tied it up in various places, and dyed it purple!:)

I love how it turned out; my only problem was that the rubber bands I used were a little abrasive and put some tiny holes in the shirt… does anyone have a different way that they tie dye? I thought about using string, but thought that the color might leak through. Any suggestions would be appreciated!:)

  2. Buy better rubber bands. The ones from the Crescent are yucky :)

  3. Wow, it's changed so much!

I haven't tie dyed anything in years but maybe elastic hair ties would work better? Mine are wrapped in thread or cloth. This might make them less likely to damage fabric.

(Although it would also probably mean that they'd absorb some of the dye. I'll keep thinking...)

  4. Wow came out great. I think that you can just knot the tee as well rather than use the rubber bands?

  5. Wow, looks great! I've done Battik before, which is where you use candle wax to protect the fabric and then pick it off when you're done. I found it was quite gentle on the fabric. Hope this helps, xoxo

  7. Yay for dye! Very cool results. I have friends who tie-dye a lot and I've not heard of the rubber bands making holes in the clothing, so maybe it is a rubber band quality thing. ?
