Watermelon (hold the seeds)

Occasionally I will step away from the sewing machine to crochet something. My niece needed a summer hat, so this is what I came up with. I didn’t plan it this way, but I think the colors make it look like a watermelon:) Sorry for the lack of detail shots; but she is cute, no??;)

Running in circles

Tada! My very first tie dye project! I have always wanted to try it, but never did. Until…I got this pink shirt. I don’t wear pink, so obviously it had to change;) I tied it up in various places, and dyed it purple!:)

I love how it turned out; my only problem was that the rubber bands I used were a little abrasive and put some tiny holes in the shirt… does anyone have a different way that they tie dye? I thought about using string, but thought that the color might leak through. Any suggestions would be appreciated!:)

We now return to our regular programming

yes! Freedom!!! School is out for the summer!!!!! I took my last final today; on Saturday will be graduation, so technically I’m celebrating a little early, but I don’t have any more papers or tests, so woohoo!;)

Aaaannnddd…….a project! Remember that dress I was telling you about? Well, I finished it! I didn’t get very good pics; sorry:/I used this pattern: it has a cowl neck, flare skirt (with tulle underneath for added poofiness) and little tiny flowers at the waistline.

Lets just say I’m glad I’m done with it. White is a horrible color to work with, especially when you have as many animals in my house as I do. I felt like I needed to have it quarantined or something, and only work on it in a pristine white room.

It’s Not

No, it’s not a denim jacket. This little jacket is my new favorite thrift find! It is an Isaac Mizrahi for Target leather jacket that I bought at my local Goodwill for 4 bucks!! I was so excited, because I’ve always wanted a leather jacket, but black ones just didn’t look right… I love this blue!:) I’m already planning different outfits to wear it with;)

I know, I know, I’ve been gone for awhile! And no, this isn’t a sewing post. I wish it was, but school and work are all consuming at the moment:( I do however, have several projects on the back burner (just waiting for spare time) including: a communion dress for a friends daughter, several dying projects, and some clothing refashion ideas. So, patience is a virtue as they say (unless you just don’t have any).

I have had some time to bake though! So, I leave you with these pics of scrumptious food:)

Bag Lady

My photography class is on Mondays. I have two other classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyone who has a class schedule like this will know that it is a pain to transfer your books into and out of your bag just so you can go to a different class. Or, maybe you are  much more organized than me, and have always had more than one bag:) Either way, I needed another bag for my photography class. Since it is just one book and a notebook, pens, folder, etc. for my photography class, my regular book bag is too big. So, a simple tote bag it is!

This bag is made from a pair of jeans, and some scrap fabric. I used up almost all of the jeans; I even used the waistband for a strap. At first I wasn’t going to use it, because it was really curved. But after I sewed it on and put it over my shoulder, the curved strap actually helps keep it on my shoulder better!

Happy Early Hallmark Holiday

I have mixed feelings about Valentines Day. I don’t know if it’s the best holiday ever, or an excuse to sit around and eat chocolate all by your lonesome….. what do you guys think??

In the spirit of Valentines Day, I present you with this shirt! I made it from a larger shirt (the diagonal lines were already there)and the heart patch is from another shirt. If it wasn’t pink and red I’d wear it!;)
